I see that you have several ignorant answers here. The KKK was founded post Civil War by Confederate soldiers in Tennessee. After the Civil War the North wanted to punish the South. So a group of the good ole boys decided to band together to protect Southern civilians. They wore hoods and capes so the Union wouldn't know their identity and retaliate against them and their families. In November of 1887 a riot broke out when a large group of ex-slaves robed raped and killed an ex Confederate soldier's wife and 3 little girls. The KKK rounded the robbers up and hung all 8 of them so the whole town could see. The New York newspaper picked up the story and classified the KLAN as a hate group and we all know the South didn't right the history books so it stuck. They never terrorized blacks because of their race they were to busy trying to help white families put their lives back together. In the 20th century a group in t he KKK started the hate acts on blacks and now it is known as a hate group. But they just stand up for white's rights.

I haven't seen much of them lately. They were these freaky crazy people that would come around and give out little booklets or papers about the klu klux klan. They hate blacks and jews and whatever it is they hate. But anyway they would come to your home and tell you how they believed.... They would pull up and dad would come outside and say GET IN THE HOUSE. lol
I use to see them some when I was a kid and lived up in the mountains. They are a bunch of nuts..... Crazy people with issues. They always scared me bad when I was a kid.

They are the Ku Klux Klan. Their origins date back to the 1800's. This group is most commonly known for their racism, hatred, and violence (including murder) of African Americans.
Unfortunately, they are still active, but in much smaller numbers than in the 20th century.
