I've a cleaning solution which smelt like bicarbonate solution. is that what it is? if yes, how to make the solution at home? what parts of water to what of bicarbonate?

It would be much easier just to buy some silver polish. You can buy a liquid kind that you just dip the silver in.

Oh I buy a silver polisher from Wal mart! You just drop it in and wait. It's good stuff!

actually, using a pencil eraser is great for removing tarnish or black spots off of jewelery. i know it sounds weird, but i used to do it all the time for my friend.
