Well there are some things in life that you would like to experience or do or have fun with and perhaps have a little sex too.

Why do so many people always bring up the religious side of things with a question like this? I am an agnostic person, not sure what lies ahead of us after we kick the bucket, but to the religious people out there, you really have no idea if there is a God or not. Are all religions that do not believe in God wrong?
The way I see it, as humans, we are one of, if not the only, animal that knows it will die. So, to answer your question, knowing you are going to die is all the more reason to to live life to the fullest. You don't have to go skydiving, or climb Mt. Everest, but enjoy the experiences life has to offer. Love, fun, helping your fellow man. None of can say with 100% certainty what happens when you die, if you go to Heaven or Hell, or where ever your belief dictates where you go. So.. live it up man! The purpose of life? Live it!!! You only get one chance for sure, so enjoy the purpose of life... living!

we are here to learn and to interact with others. Sometimes a very insignifcant thing that you do like pick up someone's fallen change for them or hold the door open, touches their life.
Think of all the people that you've ever met in your life and how sometimes a total stranger can touch you in some small way, make your day a little brighter or teach you something that you will never forget. We are here because each of us does that for somebody along our journey. And we are here to help and to learn. Help heal old hurts that go beyond this lifetime, help repair damaged souls and learn lessons that are so deep that we can't get them in one life time, we learn them over many life times.

The basic instinct of all live is to procreate so the species will survive, that goes for us too. So you were born and hopefully loved, educated and are able to make a life in our world. There comes a time, being a sentient being, when you choose your path and knowing your going to die anyway, you make the best or worst of it.
" All we really need to do is decide what it is we will do with the rest of our life." Gandolf, Lord of the Rings.

It's my understanding that our societal norms and mores teach us that living is a gift..... we should cherish our life, embrace it, do the best we can, and be all that we can be. (Sounds like an Army commercial, doesn't it?)
Unfortunately, I don't go along with mainstream society and I'm sure many people will tell me I'm evil or irrational. All my life people have told me I have free will and I'm the master of my own destiny. Except if I want to end my life. Seems like a contradiction to me.
Why does "society" presume to know what's best for me or anyone else? If a person is in such excruciating physical pain that even lying down is too much to bear..... if a person is in such mental pain that death is a viable alternative..... or if someone is just too tired to go on..... I think euthanasia or assisted suicide should be allowed.
Our society employs the death penalty as punishment. Then permit one to choose death as his or her personal reward. And I'm NOT suggesting that suicide is for everyone. If religion or personal conviction doesn't permit ending your own life, no one would be forced to do it. But if someone wants to leave this earth with dignity (as opposed to a shotgun blast to the face or jumping 10 stories to the pavement) it should be allowed.

I know this is going to souch like a cliche.... But, obviously you don't have a child(ren). I questioned everything until I became a mother. Life is seen in color before children. The moment they are handed to you -- you see the world in total technicolor. The question of life are not automatically answered, but you do have an "oh I see" moment of clarity.
Become a parent, then ponder whether you would ask that question again.
Oh, and if you are that bitter, don't wait for nature to take its course. Stop waisting space -- go off yourself!

Live each day as it were your last is my motto. So what does that mean to me?? Nothing I just treat each day as a new day and so on and so on... But bah! if I die tomorrow or in 10 years or 40 years time I cannot change a damn thing but just make the most of each day as it comes - regardless knowing that I will die one day.... It's just part of what is meant to be!

I used to ask the same question myself. I didn't see the point of existence. But then I realized that life is not about the destination - it is the journey that matters. Life is not about surviving, but thriving, and finding happiness, however ephemeral, in your daily activities.
