No birth control is 100% effective. So, it is possible that she could become pregnant. My dr. always recommended a spermicide along with using a condom.

Condoms are pretty effective. Follow the directions that usually come in the box for putting it on. Don't use an oil based lubricant as they can cause a condom to fall apart, use only water based lubes if you have to add lubrication. Remove your penis from your partner's vagina immediately after ejaculation. If you're going to have sex a second time, use a fresh condom. Condoms are very effective, but not fool proof. The more carefully you follow the instructions, the higher the chance that you'll prevent pregnancy and disease.
