so how does he come back from being swallowed by the giant squid or octopus or whatever creature that was. . .
my guess was that he pulls a little "captain jack magic" and the giant tentacled creature spits him out.
my friend is guessing that captain jack becomes dead and then somehow becomes undead. not zombie undead, undead as in not dead. remember he joined the nonliving in the first movie. but worked out a solution to relieve himself of that curse, he can do it again. would you kill off a character like captain jack? seriously, he could appear in movie 3 as a ghost or in flash back, but what sense would that make with such a likeable watchable central character ?
it's all tied into the reason the compass won't work for him - is pirating what he really wants? maybe meeting his father (keith richards - he of the coconut incident) will lead him to what he really wants.
whatever, can't wait

no he did not i was wondering that too and I heard some talk about a third movie and so I researched it and indeed a third one is coming out in 2007 and it is called " Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End" and there is a cast list and Captain Jack Sparrow is in there along with Davey Jones and so on ..so research it and be interested like I was! : )

YES! He died, however as the movie ended the "gang" were all back at the Voodoo Enchantress's swampy tree house where she implied that there was a way to go and get him and bring him back to the land of the living. So..........a third movie, how Disney!

he technically did.the whole deal is the witch doctor said they can bring him back to life if they travel to the ends of the earth with captain barbossa

Its called a cliffhanger. It's not clear. Its so you spend money on the third movie.

I didn't even see it and I can tell you with 100% certainty that he did not die in #2. I will even go out on a limb and tell you that he will not die in #3 either.
