As a young girl, I discovered that through books, I could escape from a life that was not all that happy, that I could be whatever I wanted to be, do whatever I wanted to do, go to worlds that I could never see, both real and fantastic. Now as an adult, I enjoy the challenge of a good mystery, and I still like to visit those places beyond my reach in real life, and as a children's librarian, I hope that I can give a little of that wonder to the children that come into the library.

I like to read because it helps me to relax and take me away from all the things that are going on around me. It also helps me to vist places that I have always dreamed of visting. It also so that I can become the people in the books that I read.

I agree, i like to read because when stressed or etc.(what u said), i read to not focus on my problems but others, others feelings, emotions, thoughts, and actions rather then my own. I read for enjoyment, education, become a faster, better reader.I read to explore different worlds, people. I read to open my mind, expand my imagination, use my creativity, and to be lost in thoughts and predictions, images, and descriptions. I read because its one of the Best things i have been given to do.

I read because words on a page express what I know but can't say, feel but can't see, and think but can't share....

Books are the epitome of my own life while simultaneously being a window of understanding into every other life that I both dream of having a cringe from encountering....

I read books because they transport me to a world that's not my own. They introduce me to people who are a lot more interesting than the people in my hometown. They help me better understand the tragedies in the world around me, and better support the people who have experienced these tragedies. But, most of all, I read books because they reassure me that my life isn't nearly as screwed up as it seems. :D
