i see what you mean by that question.. some answers here are but true. its not about the height. but asking is not actually a wrong thing to do, so its ok.. bout the question, i think american ballerinas and russian ballerinas are tall enough.. tall is 5"6' above.. that is tall enough right? that is tall really. but the main point is, even the tall ones do the tip-toes you are saying.. because ballerinas get the maximum height as much as they can for bigger moves and better visual presentation.. the longer their bones are, the better.. well, not of course pertaining to giants, only to those who are made for ballet counts, ok? chill..

It's not about being taller. It's about grace and increasing the lines of the body. Being on "tip toe" is more about technique than height.

ballet dancers are tall, they stand on there tip-toes to look graceful and elegant. Also they're not on there tip-toes all of the time.

Being tall isn't the point of pointe shoes, or tip-toes as you call it. It's about being graceful, and it's what makes ballet, ballet.

first of all, you have to be relatively tall to be a ballerina. Dancing on point is very difficult, it shows that the body has mastered a skill which the body was not naturally meant to physically do. Dancing on point gives the leg a long look, like the legs go on forever. :)

the ballet dancers that stay on their toes alot are called pointers...and most ballet dancers are tall...it would look ugly if they danced on their feet and it would be harder and less graceful...and they usually hire based on talent...not height...

nicely, like the others suggested, it extremely relies upon on the dancer. in a unmarried difficulty i know, she has in common words been dancing for 2 classes, and her instructor cautioned en pointe to her at a test. In different situations, like maximum, dancers ought to attend a particular quantity of years earlier their ankles and ft can take care of it!

perhaps it's not about height afterall. i've heard that being on pointe lends a more ethereal aspect to the dancing, indicating a striving for "the divine". not too farfetched if you're in the minority and have an imagination.

That's not why they're "on tip toe." That's just what ballet is.
