Only for a little bit but after that they drown. Earthworms breath through the segments of their skin. Their not meant to be in the water. However, there are many different species of worms and it's that difference that allows some to live in high moisture climates, while others prefer lower moisture climates. :O)

no they will drown after a while
we breed worms for compost and if the ground is too wet they come to the surface ,
but they do like humid and moist ground because it is softer,
put a worm in a bottle of water and it will go white and sink to the bottom
