Okay, I gotcha on this one. Yes, it's kind of weird, but I have to admit I do the same thing. I mean, in a world full of hate and violence and increasing death, it's kind of hard not to, don't you think? I think it's important for everyone to think about the reality of death and what it does to people. I mean, you hear about the death of someone on the news, and you immediately think about that person's family and friends, right? Then it makes you think about the people you love. It makes you want to keep them closer and appreciate the time you have with them, don't it? At least, it does for me.

It is neither normal nor weird. In my opinion, it only serves its meaning when you have an objective in mind. If this is a nagging issue in your mind, and by embracing such thoughts alleviate the fear or whatever thoughts that nags you, it does serves its duty.
In Grief episode, a 'pre-envision' of death of the loved ones, or ourselves, sometimes help us be 'prepared' and span out the grief of death, when it happens.
We will still counter that grief factor when it truly happens, but it rids of some part of sudden shock.
So, it depends on what exactly you are hoping to achieve when you do envision death. Was it just an 'existence' issue (when you doubt your own significance in this world) or what?
Perhaps you just wonder sometimes how 'insignificant' is a person in this vast world, or how can people get affected with a 'disappearance' of another living person. (I noticed the key sentence that your concern is heavily weighted on the 'living persons' rather than the after death of the deceased.)

Nope, not weird at all! Totally normal. I always think that way, how my family would react to my death, how it would be if my mother or father was gone.
