I am an Italian fan and i have no problem admitting Materazzi is probably the "dirtiest" (in the sense that he doesn't respect fair play) player in the Italian team.

He probably wouldn't have played at all, if Nesta wasn't injured in one of the first games Italy played in the tournament.

Anyhow, I don't understand all the fuss: De Rossi played dirty (elbow) and was suspended. I think Materazzi will be suspended too, if FIFA finds out that he provoked Zidane saying something against the rules.

All teams have their black sheep.

Looking for the bad in Materazzi!
Materazzi could be the worst player in the world and the dirtiest. Let's face the fact tho, Zidane lost it, there is no way anybody should justify what he did. A wrong action is a wrong action, nothing can make it right. Even if Materazzi insulted him or his family it still doesn't justify what Zidane did. Trying to justify what he did would be wrong. Even if Materazzi has bad in him, it doesnt make Zidane's action just. It never will, no matter how hard everybody tries.

I saw this video already, thank you for posting it. Materazzi is a dirty player and always has been. I was at the final game and the italian side was playing dirty and diving/wining nonstop. They were getting booed and whistled every time they touched the ball by a public which was dispointed by their play and upset by their acting. When the referees got their medals for officiating the game, the boos and whistles were so loud I felt like the whole stadium was shaking and they could not drown them with music. I think Zidane shouldn' t have done what he did but I can understand. I also find the fact that Materazzi won't come clean a perfect example of the man's character.

Why should Materazzi get suspended for saying any words.
In Euro 2004 Poulsen said things to Totti that Totti retaliated with by spitting at Poulsen.
Totti was suspended after the game when the video was brought out. There was no questioning of Poulsen, or talk of him being suspended.

As Materazzi has said, and all players will admit to in all forms of professional sport, soccer, hockey, football, baseball, basketball, etc. Its called trash talk, meant to distract the other player, get under their skin, and get them off their game.

In most sports the retaliator always seems to get the tougher penalty, and their are no rules against saying things to other players. Could you imagine if their was? There is enough diving and fake injuries that mirraculously heal, with a bit of magic spray.
We don't need the players running around like sissy tattle tales, saying " That player said........, or he called me ......"
Give it up, ZIDANE was the worse offender in all of this.

Forza Azzuri!!!

I've also seen another video, Materazzi is by far the dirtiest player on the italian team, no doubt. He seems to be just out to get people.

I dont doubt it one bit that he said something EXTREMELY dirty to Zidane. He doesnt seem the respectful type from what ive seen of him on the pitch.

i love the italian team, and its true...materazzi is a pretty dirty player but he does make those headers. oh well, he may not be my favorite player but he did help the italian team so i cant completely hate him. i choose to dislike him.

If you did on the street what the"great" Zidane did on the pitch you would have been put in jail. You must admit this.

interesting.... some people are just rough and cheap players...

i don't blame zidane or think less of him because of what he did. he was provoked...getting his nipple twisted and listening to trashtalk about his sister... i just think the timing was sad....last game and all.
