Why do people who aren't from New Orleans dislike New Olreanians?

I'm from here....when I was gone during the hurricane and people asked where i was from...after i told them they looked at me like i was a leper. what are your thoughts and do you dislike new orleanians? if so whY?

ok and what are these so called "precautions"....i mean you can't really pick up your house and move it with you whenever a hurricane comes. there are a lot of things besides us that suck up tax money.

I could never choose to dislike someone or a group of people because of where there are from. that's crazy. Maybe some people where more afraid of new orleanians than they disliked them. Where i'm from there was a lot of chaos because a lot of victims of katrina where suppose to be housed in my area. people dislike that because of all of the crime and violence that are usually associated with n.o. i live in la myself and see the reports on violence in n.o. daily. the people here where mad because our town is safe, nothing at all ever happens around here. they feared that when n.o. folks moved to our area so would the drama and violence. i know just because you are from a certain city it doesn't make you bad, but that's how new orleanians are viewed by many.

I'm not from New Orleans and I don't dislike New Orleanians. I actually wanted to go there for a vacation before the whole hurricane disaster. Don't worry about those people who doesn't like N.O-ians. Focus on what you can do to show how great you and the people from there are. =)

Maybe it's because the refusal of New Orleanians to take even the most basic precautions against hurricanes has cost the taxpayers billions?

i heard alot of people are mad becouse it seems like alot of the new orleans people do not want to go back home, i heard it on the news , i have nothing against them, but i live in michigan and not many came all the way up here,
