I'm curious to know why you specify 2012, its only 6 years a way and the chances are nothing out of ordinary will happen unless some nut either tries to wipe mankind with a nuclear war or another sort of nut lets loose a virus of some description for which there is no cure..
If you where to ask what life will be like in 2112 society will have to learn how to use energy far more efficiently , there will be lots more technology in our everyday lives, china and India will be world super powers, Europe and USA will suffer has their share of world trade is robbed away by lower cost producing countries, Automobiles /aeroplanes /trains as we know them will be a thing of the past and will have been replaced by much more fuel efficient technologies and transport systems.. There could be a permanent base on the moon,, perhaps mars too, the solar system will have been explored.
.. Society might have changed for the common good, though I guess it could also change for the worse and it could be very like those post apocalyptic movies..
You know something though its best not to worry bout such things cos in the end none of us can do anything to stop such events from happening

Many will say nothing...you are nuts, etc.
But how can a Bible code come up with destruction of earth in 2012.
Why does the Mayan calendar end in 2012?
Why is the year 2012 written in 2 of the 3 Egypt pyramids?
Why has 3 major Prophets all predicted 2012 as the end time?
Do we honestly know for sure? No...there is no way to know till that time comes.
But like believing in God....isn't it always better to be safe then sorry?

what you're talking about are two different but similar things: behavior and systems.
Did you wonder what would happen at 2000? That's a good example. People were wondering if Jesus was going to come back or if God would do something or if computers were going to crash or if people were going to freak out.
But none of that happened. Actually the biggest two things to happen around 2000 were the US presidential and federal elections and a little known event referred to as 'contagion'.
But those were system heavy events. People didn't freak out- behavior was fine.
I've heard stuff about 2012 but i don't pay it no never mind because what really matters is if people freak out or if our systems become significantly undesirable. When people freak out it can be like the sixties or like the depression. When systems freak out, like climate affects, economies collapse, militaries do their thing theat's when stuff gets messed up.
As far as 2012 being a date when either or both freak outs happen- that would be a coincidence. (And like they said on Seinfeld, "There are no big or small coincidences there are just coincidences.)

I think Earth and Humanity will be about the same. I think we will make some technological advancements. i believe we will have vehicles that run completely on ethanol or water. I predict the gas prices will return to normal because people will use alternative resources. Travel will be faster by train and still having a DVD played will be as socially unacceptable as wearing overalls and a skin tight shirt.

People were predicting the end of humanity by 1840. In the 1930's people were convinced things were going to end any week. They were predicting the end of humanity during the 1960's by the end of the century because of all the pollution and warfare. When I was graduating high school they were predicting Armageddon in the next ten years.
People are always predicting doom and gloom and things still stumble along with us being able to right ourselves somehow.

same old thing that happenes in 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2011, its not the end of the world any more than 2000 was, its just some silly fool calculating something he thinks he reads in the bible.
