it wont hurt anything, the 5 of 5W30 is the vescosity of the oil when it is cold. the 30 is when it is hot. mixing it wont hurt anything. you mix a 5 and a 10 in equal parts and you get 7.5W30. no big deal. if youre only adding a quart to get you through until the next change, its nothing to worry about either.

They are both 30 weight oils the 5W flows easier at lower temps. It's safe to mix the 2. It's not recommended but in a pinch no harm will be done.

Yeah its fine to do, just be aware that the resulting viscosity will be something like 7w30. Basically those two grades are very similar and unless you are running a car with a turbo or rotary engine or something you should have no problems.

Its ok if they are the same brand but why wouldn't you just get it all the same to begin with?

NO they are diff. viscocity oils, must drain one first before adding another.

I've done it before and didn't have any problems...but it is probably better to stay with one viscosity.
