During the 1970s, I pretty much stayed stoned on speed any/or acid for almost five years. I was a active alcoholic from age 16 to 39. And, God willing, I will never touch either again. That, however, is not to say I'd choose Religion as an answer to your question.

I have a real problem with organized religion. I can't find a denomination where I can get behind all there doctrins, I guess thats what their called. And the kicker has always been that many of them firmly believe that only members of their denomination will recieve Heaven. I refuse to accept that the God I believe in, that I read of in the Bible would single out one congrigation for Glory and condemn all other religions on earth.

My choice is a relationship with God, hands down. Sorry about the tirade.

I do have religion and it has helped me much in my life. I have never done drugs but a family member I lived with did and he was a total wreck and very unhappy. He wasted over $100 dollars every day on his habit and had to lie to cover up what was going on and steal to get the money. He also had to sell almost everything he owned to help with the money.Near the end of the addiction he just wanted to give up and kill himself. Even though he got help with rehab he still has craving and will always be addicted. That is not as good a life as would have had if he did not start. So clearly of the two religion is the best. Even if you are not a believer.

Did some social many years ago but choose religion for if I choose not to go to church on a Sunday won't be sick and going through withdrawals. Once you're hoked on drugs your choice is limited and to be free requires being very sick-withdrawals and a constant struggle for some time after and for some people always. Religion is choice, makes you feel good, enlightens your spirit , does not enslave you, leaves your mind free and your body healthy and is the way to heaven while drugs are a way into misery, despair, never enough for gradually as addiction worsens need always more while once God is found there is peace within ones spirit. There really is no comparison.

i know of a person who has done both. my ex wife was raised DEEP in religion. she knows The Bible better than anyone i know. but she also slips and now is involved with drugs and loosers. she knows religion is more important. i think sometimes its just not that important at the moment. the way i see it-drugs can kill ya-LITERALLY. religion can save you-LITERALLY.

I never did drugs, all thanks to God. I choose religion because Jesus Christ, my God and Savior, has given me eternal life with Him. He has given me Faith, Hope, Peace, and Love.

From seeing other people, whether stories or tv, drugs make you unhappy, miserble, and result in a dreadful death!
