Yep, I agree with Dr. Atrocity. "To condescend" basically mean to show disdain towards someone.

The one who condescends to others is acting as if he thinks he is superior to the other and makes his disgust with the other person clearly known, usually in a irritated and sarcastic manner.

Equally irritating is "patronizing", giving obviously insincere flattery and pleasantries to someone, most likely a person considered to be an inferior.

It means you think you're better than they are; by condescending, you are stooping to their level out of the goodness of your heart.

You had it right the first time. Condescension is basically looking down on someone and treating them as your inferiors.
