A freind of mine who lives here in Germany just recieved a message on his cell phone from his X-wife, they were never married, but she fled to the USA, Chicago today with hiis 2 sons 2 and 4 years old, to be with her new husband an American and I think a Soldier as well. It was all I could do to keep him from destroying something, I promised to do whatever I could as an American Citizen to help him... I know He really loves his children and it broke my heart to see him in such a state... Any suggestions, should he go to and american consulate, to the german government? Any special agencies? I have already told him to get a lawyer. He is affraid he will never see them again.

If they were never married, your friend is on shakey ground as courts generally favor the mother in such a relationship. I don't understand how she can be his ex-wife if they were never married. Doesn't leave the man much legal ground to stand on. Internatioanal custody fight? Very nasty and probably costly. I know I haven't provided any answers (don't rightly have one for this), but may have provided some hurdles that will have to be overcome in his legal battle. Tough call.

If They were never married, this is hard. If the childern do have his name and she never claim him to be the father. And if there was not court order custody then she has the right to take them any where. The only thing he can do is get a lawyer and I really dont know how well that would do. But you can try. If they have is name and there was a court order for them to stay in his state then he still has to have a lawyer. Dealing with kids in another state is hard. Good luck

First, I have a question. Is his name on the birth certificates of both children? If it is, then he probably has the right to see his children. A lawyer is his best bet at this time. Tell him to get one as soon as possible. I don't understand how some people using this site can be so cruel to others, maybe they are just not grown up enough to understand the feelings a parent can have for their children. I do hope this helps.

All I can say is that I can imagine exactly what he is going through and what is going through his mind because I have a two year old girl and a eight year old girl and I would die if I was to ever lose them. So I will pray for him and I wish him the Best Of Luck and God will be over his shoulder all the time. And yes he need's to go and speak to an lawyer as soon as possible but it will cost but when it comes to your children it doesn't matter because there is no price on that. And I know he feel's lost but them children know's their daddy because theyre are at the age that they know. And like I said I will pray for him.

Well if your friend is American...then get a lawyer and get visitation rights....hopefully the American military would stand behind a solider...but then again who knows??
Hope I don't get followed by the government now because of this answer!

a lawyer would be my first choice as they work in a team with allot of different qualifications they would be able to trace this person down (i think it is illegal to take children over seas with out the consent of the other parent) if it is illegal in your country she will be sent back to her home country
if this does not work then try a government organisation they will be able to assist you in what he needs to do
i can't tell you more than i think you already know all you need to do is act on what you decide and do it quickly cause i do know the longer you leave it the harder and worse it gets
GOOD LUCK buddy i hope your friend finds his children

He should definitely get in contact with the government on either side to help him. If they are not her children then she will be charged with kidnap and be deported. Good luck with that.
