Actually, I'm pretty sure that The Wizard of Oz had a lot to do with the technological revoloution and the loss of farming (Note how at the end Dorothy tells the scarecrow she'll miss him most of all). I think that the OZ came from the abbreviation for ounce, which had somehting to do with the worth of an ounce of silver or gold at the time. I'm not 100% though.
