I think what you really meant to ask is, What did the mainstream media invent? What they invented during the 2000 campaign was an Al Gore who didn't exist -- an awkward, bumbling, stuffy, pedantic, humorless, wimpy guy. At the same time, they (with Karl Rove's help) invented a guy named George Bush that you would like to have a beer with, who used to be an alcolholic but was on the wagon, who had become a straight-laced born-again Christian, who avoided the draft and went AWOL (but that didn't matter because that was all in the past).

Al Gore didn't invent the internet, but he did provide Congressional leadership to make it possible and was an early proponent of its merits. He also gave us insight into "an inconvenient truth," that we are destroying our good green earth with global warming and the depletion of natural resources unless something is done about it. But I guess that's not something we would want to talk about with our buddies over a cold beer, now is it? It just might remind us that, if we don't do something fast, our children and their grandchildren and great-grandchildren just may not be around to talk about anything over a cold beer. Nah, we wouldn't want to talk about that, would we? We'd rather talk about the new SUV we're thinking about buying.

Wonder who the news media are inventing for us to vote against in 2008. Wonder who they're inventing for us to have a cold beer with.

The internet. Don't beleive me? See below.

Ginrich's remarks were broadcast on C-SPAN:
GINGRICH: In all fairness, it’s something Gore had worked on a long time. Gore is not the Father of the Internet, but in all fairness, Gore is the person who, in the Congress, most systematically worked to make sure that we got to an Internet, and the truth is—and I worked with him starting in 1978 when I got [to Congress], we were both part of a “futures group”—the fact is, in the Clinton administration, the world we had talked about in the ’80s began to actually happen.

things that he REALLY invented? or things he CLAIMS to have invented because the things he claims he invented were around when he was nothing more than a child. like the internet for one was actually created by the u.s. army when gore was just a young boy. so if you want the things he really invented, the answer would be NOTHING.

during his stint in congress, al gore passed legislation that was essential to the creation of the current net.

and he didn't invade the wrong country and create 2544 body bags.
