Frame or sub frame connectors mount between the front and rear sub frames,to see what I am talking about look under the side of your vehicle and you should see the front frame section that the engine, transmission and front suspension mounts to and you should see a rear frame section that the rear axle mounts to. Frame or sub frame connectors fill the gap in between the two. Their main purpose is to stiffen the entire vehicle which is a bonus in a performance type vehicle, for maximum effect they should be welded to the front and rear sub frames and to the underside of the floor of the vehicle though some people just drill and bolt them in place. If your vehicle is a front wheel drive or a rear engine rear drive vehicle then there is no need for them, they are intended for front engine rear wheel drive vehicles that do not have a full perimeter frame.

Unibody cars like the Nova have sub frame assemblies. Frame connectors are used to integrate front and rear assemblies for more rigidity in high power applications.
