In Task Manager on laptop, System is running close to 100%. System Idle is virtually not used. Been in registry and everything ok. Scanned for viruses, worms, etc, nada. Did replace hard drive recently. Computer still works, but running extremely inefficiently. Any thoughts?

If you reboot your laptop, does the same thing immediately occur ?
In the few instances this has happened to me in the past, i use process of elimination to figure out the culprit. Start ending every single task that you have permissions to kill and monitor the CPU to see if that was the culprit. If none of those affect it, go to the control panel, services, and start stopping every single service that you can, 1 at a time, and find the culprit. The combination of these 2 things to find the culprit process has worked for me in the past.
