it is amazing that candles which were first used thousands of years ago are still useful today in our homes when we have a power cut in mains electricity. An electric torch will run flat quite quickly while a candle can give us light for a long time.

Candles are romantic as the flame gives an reddish light, making people look more attractive. A live flame reminds our subconcious that Fire is one of the elements, connecting us with our origins. Earth, Air, Fire Water.

Once you set the wick on fire, it melts the wax under it, and the liquid wax gets absorbed by the wick and reaches the flame. The wax is paraffin, which melts slightly above room temperature, but has to be very hot to burn. Because it melts easily, the temperature in the wick is much colder than the temperature needed for the wick *itself* to catch fire - so only the wax burns. This means that the wick burns off at the very tip, where the wax is burning, and it also means that the wick burns slower than if it were separate from the candle.

So basically: wax melts and keeps the wick cool -> liquid wax comes to the top of the wick -> wax burns, keeping the flame and melting the wax below it. Read the article below for a good explanation.

Candle, to me symbolises a person who is selfless, a person who helps everyone irrespective of any circumstance he is in.
Have u ever observed a candle? It gives light all around itself but it is always dark under the candle flame. It spreads light when the candle itself is in darkness.

What exactly do you need to analyze? Obviously the components of a candle are pretty simple. Are we talking function? How long it takes a candle to burn down?
