If everything is already written than what you will do will never deviate form what you will do. You are questioning whether it matters if what you will do deviates from what you should do or what you ought to do, but; you will do what you will do, whether you ought have or not. Morality, ethics, and life do not always see eye to eye. You have to come to accept that. You will not always do the right thing, or what you should do, or even what you ought to do, but; what you do will be the life you have chosen. And by all means, wear your seat belt. You may survive the accident but you body may pay a terrible price for your decision.

It is an interesting question because we cannot deny the cause and effect theory of the universe.
That means that everything that is happening or will happen is the effect of some chain reaction already perpetuating itself.
However, we are also certain that we have our own in put in the big scheme of things.
That is our free will. Living things have free will -so they cannot be just a passive ingredient of a chain reaction of pre-determined world.
Here, how much is our free will and how much of our body follows the cause and effect is the question.
We will have an accident if we drink and drive - Cause & Effect.
We choose not to drive if we are drunk because we know that we might have an accident. This is where we exercise our free will.
So it is the ability to compute and determine forseeable future with a certain accuracy that makes us special, and here we exercise our freewill for our own advantage - thus diverting the chain reaction of cause and effect and creating new scenarios in the process.

There's no evidence of a pre-ordained plan. To believe in such fairy tales will only limit what you can do in life. What makes a person stand out anyway?
Greatness may last a thousand years for a few and eternally for none. On the scale of earthly time, individual lives are but mere blinks of an eye. We're born, we live, we die and then you're not heard from ever again. There might be a tombstone or family tree made with your name on it, but eventually the tombstone weathers from age and who knows what media your family tree will be used. All the memories and accomplishments will be totally forgotten, unless you're a Hitler or Alexander the Great type person.
In a thousand years, your bones will be dust and no other trace of your existence will be seen, unless, of course you become fossilized for some reason, but even then, after thousands of years more, that will be disintegrated into dust. We influence the lives of our children and others, but they too will eventually die. So what's the point of living?
In astronomical terms, the Earth will eventually succumb to the supernova of our Sun, it's an astonomically certainty the earth will be burned to a crisp.
So does death render our lives meaningless. If we were immortal, that would be the ultimate in boredom, repetition, day after day, of doing the same thing for thousands of years (hundreds may be OK, but nothing beyond that)....but i digress, back to your question.
It all boils down to how creative we can be in the short period of time we have on this earth....Our activities need to be worthwhile for their own sake, not because they fulfill some supernatural transcendental purpose....LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST DAMNIT, YOU WON'T GET A SECOND CHANCE!!!

I believe in destiny and that we all have one to fulfill. However, I don't believe that fulfilling that destiny precludes the need for us to live smart and make the right choices as those are the things that make up our journey towards that destiny.
Nothing in life is cast in stone and all things are subject to change. That doesn't mean the change invalidates our destiny, only the way we get there and when. The real question comes down to is our date with destiny set within this lifetime or is dying to get there part of that journey also.

I do not believe that the Supreme Being runs our lives for us. He has given us free will. I believe that in whatever we choose in our individual lives then a destiny is created. I think it is all in our subconscious minds. ex: if you believe that love hurts, then a person will be attracted in your life who you will love and who will hurt you. It all comes from us, not from the beyond. You must have heard of "change your mind, change your life"? As far as seat belts are concerned, it can only give you safety on not-so-fast speeds. keep the faith. Take Care.

It is not written. There are some things you can't change like heredity and being stuck in a bad environment. But most of us are blessed with free will and the ability to choose. Some of us are unlucky and are affected by the bad decisions of others, some do it to themselves. You write it as you live it.

I think that our lives are not written. The choices we make, people, and enviornment around us determine what will happen in the future. If it's already written then why do something, let life take it cource. But i don't think that's realistic. Thus, what will happen in the future mainly depends on what, where, and when we do things in the present.

No. If that is the case, then there is no free will. Free will is the basis for most religions. If there is no way anyone could change their lives then everyone would just sit on the couch and scream until the sweet release of death (which would be out of our control also).

There is some support for the notion that we won't die until it's our appointed time in the Bible.
Psalms 139:13 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there were none of them. 17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!

No. I think we have choices. Just like the choice to wear a seat belt or not.
