That black plastic covering does take a bit of getting used to. Start off by pushing the nozzle cover up with one hand exposing more of the metal pipe. Pull the gas pump with the other hand. Careful, this can get messy and you or your bike can smell like engine food.

you should be able to hold back the spring part of the nozzle to enable filling of motorcycle tanks or portable gas cans.
