The story is about a future society that test children for anything special and then handicaps them to make everyone equal. The story ends with the boy removing the headphones that prevent him from thinking...he then takes over a tv studio...the girl removes her leg braces and dances on tv...the "police" show up and shoot them. I read this in high school and cannot remember the name of the story to save my life. Please help.

"Harrison Bergeron" by Kurt Vonnegut. By the way, the Handicapper General's name was Diana Moon Glampers...Vonnegut seems to like this name, because she appears in a few of his other stories (but not as a government official)

It's by Kurt Vonnegut. The story's called "Harrison Bergeron" and it was published in -Welcome to the Monkey House-.
