If you're a Padres fan I think you should appreciate the fact that Trevor Hoffman is a great reliever."My" Cardinals could have used a reliever like Hoffman for the last 14 years..

I can't agree with the statement that he "pads his stats so bad in games no one cares about". I'm fairly certain that the guys playing behind him care about every game.Padres fans care.

Well, he has saved 272 of his last 296 saves (297 if u include the ASG) which turns out to be over a 90% save success percentage. thats one of the best in league. He's also second all time in saves (could be number 1 by the end of the year since he only needs 18 more to tie). therefore, i would have to say that a large number of those saves were "big saves" especially since he played on some very good san diego teams over the years. so, no, he doesnt choke everytime he needs a big one, but i also wouldnt mind having mariano instead. :-P

Every game is a big game in the majors. Every save is needed. I personally think the closer role is over-rated. The middle reliever does the hardest work most of the time.

However, you have selective memory. People tend to remember what reinforces their opinions. "David Ortiz is 'clutch'. He has 35209 game ending hits in the last two years." Maybe, but how many game ending chances did he not cash in on?

I Hate him, my man Calos Beltran would have been MVP of the game, and now the Mets have to do it in 5 for me to see them win it all at home!
