I certainly hope so. And, I hope it will be Condoleeza Rice.

I agree with response by Athena, above. Keep your eye on Barack Obama from Illinois. He has the whole package: good
looks, intelligence, charisma, etc. BUT--------he would need
unlimited protection while campaigning as I'm afraid there is
still too much racial hatred in the country.
As for Dr. Condoleesa Rice, while she is eminently qualified,
I cannot foresee her overcoming both the race and gender
hurdles she would face.
The question "will there ever be a black president" can simply be answered -- Yes -- but probably not for another 12 to 20 years.
Mr Obama is young enough to ride out the wait.

someday we will have a black president, but it will take a man of great moral stature, and courage to do it. we almost had one..if people had been able to successfully convince colin powell to run for president he would have won. however a black president takes a risk with those groups however small they may be, making many attempts on his life which besides the risk of life, the stress makes the presidency an undesirable position for people of a minority..and as far as a woman president? I doubt it, regardless of equal rights this country will require a MAJOR change in thought pattern to ever elect a female president..

Of course. Anyone can be president, not only white men. There will be. I just hope he/she would be a good one, because I think people would vote for a black president simply because he/she is black and will make history, instead of because he/she has rational thoughts. I hope you didn't take that last thought as racist in any way, as I am not racist and not trying to be.

probably not . . . . the Constitution is very hard to change but I do expect sometime to have a women president and if that would happen I think that there will be a lot of changes and then yes other people could be president

No, never.
But there will definitely be a President (always with a capital letter when talking about THE President of most countries), who happens to be of African ancestry if I have anything to do with it. Someone who represents all of us.

I wish Condi Rice could be talked into running for President. If she would I do believe she would win.

Yes. I hope to see it in my life time. Colin Powell should have been the first one, but I think you will see Obama at least be the first to win a party nomination.
