A better name would be..."Capsized" or "Rose Sunken Leo"
there are so many different Titanic references you could use.
How about "Lives Minus Lifeboats" I could go on and on but I won't. "Frozen Afterthoughts" too many ideas I tell ya.

I don't think the "the" is completely neccessary. Lifeboat Theory sounds more vauge like it could be depicting the Titanic or life. Metaphoricly its better instead of a single lifeboat theory implied by the "the". It stands out more too because of all of the "the" bands out there. What kind of music do you play?

Not bad, but if you have to explain it,.....

Widespread Panic has a song called "Don't tell the band", with a verse about playing on the Titanic.... Maybe that will help your inspiration.

What kind of music? "Lifeboat Contusions" - punk
"Steel Lifeboats" -Country
"Lifeboat to Hell" - Metal
"Lifeboat of Love" - Contemporary
"Women and Children First"- Gospel

Take out "The" ... Lifeboat Theory is perfect.. the extra syllable from the word "The" makes the phrase sound "frumpy" and too long, so it's best to keep it light. The idea behind the band name is excellent and your logos and merch would be hot! Good luck. I look forward to buying your CDs. :)

sounds good to the ears. but the relation to the titanic not so much. one the original concept of the band name will get lost overtime. second to relate to such a tragic event not good. You're not pay homage to the titanic.

Not a terrible name! Is it fitting to the kind of music that you play? A name can SOMETIMES tell alot about a band and the messages they are trying to get across to their fans! Good luck..!!

It may not be an amazing name, but the meaning behind it is really good and that makes me like it more.
