In fine dining rest the waitress usually has to tip 10% of what she made at the end of the night to bus and bar. So if she made $100.00 she would have to give the bus $10.00 and the bar $10.00. 30% is a very nice tip. Taxes that are paid are usually on the sales not actual tips received. They are based on 8%of sales, or 100% of credit cards which ever is more........so if you want to help out your waitress even more......tip cash even if you pay the tab with a credit card.

When I worked in a restaurant all the tip money was put in a jar and at the end of the night the tips were divided up between everyone including the bus boy. Everyone got an equal share of the pot.

Usually the waiter has to share with the cook staff, hostess, etc. 30% is a great tip, but if the service and food are worth it, go for it!

Where I work we report all our tips so they can take taxes out of it. The average tip is around 15 percent, but i always try to tip more if I get good service. Where I work the busser and other workers make regular pay, so we don't share our tips. I think many restaurants are moving towards this so you don't have to worry about everyone getting their share of the tip.

Depends upon the place. Usually they have to tip the bartender, bus staff and sometimes the kitchen staff an additional 10 % each. Oh, I forgot, the also tip the "host/hostess"
30% is a good tip.

It varies, Sometimes they put the tip in a pot, and split it with the kitchen staff. Sometimes each waiter will give a certain percent to the cooking staff, and/or bus-boy. Sometimes they get it all.
30% is a huge tip.

30% is VERY generous. The waiter may have to share with the bartender, if you ordered drinks, and with the busboy. Some places (not the better ones) make everyone pool their tips and distribute the whole pot equally.

Yep..providing they report all their earnings..they end up paying taxes on it. However, in some places the have to tip out the bar tender or bust boy or both..
My husband and I too believe in leaving big tips over the required amount!

Yes it is. I generally tip 20% if the service is good, and consider that a good tip.
