the term "minnow" is a name for a stage in a fish's life, rather than for a specific kind of fish. so they might grow up to be any of a number of different kinds of fish. check with your seller to see what species they are.
If you got them from you pond, then get a field guide to fishes and look in your local area for what kind of fish usually inhabit the pond.
I don't know what country you're in, so it's hard to hazard a guess. Plus, there are lots of common names for fish like: perch, pumpkinseed, sunfish, etc. that don't mean too much. A good field guide or Collins guide will help.

I don't know much about the minnows that fisherman use as bait. It was my understanding that it's just any small, young bait fish, but they're probably different varieties of the Minnow family. They are related to Goldfish, Barbs, Danios and a bunch of other common fish. If you buy them at a pet shop, then it would likely be something like White Cloud Mountain Minnows, or Rosy Red Minnows, but there are actually several kinds. White Clouds are the ones I see the most often. They're nice little coldwater fish, and their care is very similar to goldfish.

Minnows are the largest family of fishes. Most are small, although some will reach a foot or more in length. Many different types exist.

Bigger minnows! LOL
No really, whatever a fish is born to be, that's what they are all their lives.
They aren't like tadpoles that become frogs.
