im not racist...but why??

i suspect tht chinese ppl in my country(Malaysia) are racist(not all,but some). at work,in chat rooms,shoppin complex,almoz evrywer in my country...caz they always(or shoud i say prefer?) hangout wit their own type,talkin in their language so tht others(ppl frm diff ethnics) couldnt understand what they r talkin about. some of ~them couldnt even speak our national language~! itsannoyin~!i do understand som mandarin words(bad words) tht refers to insultin ppl and they did this to som frenz of mine not so long ago when we went shopping. To chi ppl who read this,no offense ok?? caz i dun hate u guyz n i even have chi frenz tht r vewy nice and i have chi blood runnin in my vain(my ancestors probably from China) caz my father have chi looks and the fact tht my race(malay) like to marry other races~ >_< LUV n PEACE

When ethnic groups isolate themselves from those not like themselves I think it may be due to insecurity. They feel more comfortable around people who are more like them.

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area which is very racially mixed so I had the opportunity to mix with all races and everyone just hung out together.

It's unfortunate that so many people feel the need to "stick with their own kind". They are missing out on a lot of good friendships.

Well, in american people often ask the same question about every sub-culture besides their own. Why do Spanish speaking people all hang out together and speak spanish even when around people that don't speak spanish? Why do African-americans gather together and give mean looks when Caucasians are around?

Some people just don't get along with people who are different, others are quick to accept everyone as a unique and special being.

~*~ most people who speak different languages don't speak their native language to offend people or to cover up what they are talking about.. I don't agree with us people who can speak languages other than english to go around and offend people.. I think that if we want respect we have to give it.. I think that you need to see things from all points of view and not just your own.. I can't make an opinion on a bad experience that you may have had with a non-english speaking person.. but in my case.. I don't go around insulting people in spanish or italian.. If i'm going to insult someone or fight with them i'm going to do it in a language that they can understand.. As for hanging out with our own.. I hang out with people I am comfortable with.. Most of my friends are Mexicans but that doesn't mean that I can't or won't make any friends from any other race.. i can't speak for the asians at all cause where I live there are few.. I just hope that someday soon people will start to open their eyes and accept people and stop with the racism.. we are all human beings.. ~*~

I cannot answer if the people at your job are racist or not, but I can say that racism exists in every culture throughout the world. Why are people racist? Well, some might argue that it is fear of differences. Others might say that racism stems from one's innate sense of self -- thinking that everyone ought to be just like you. Or from one's desire to feel superior to others. But racism should be a social ill that all cultures should try to eliminate.

All races in all countries are the same. This is due to our brought up enviro. If we were to be brought up in a multi ethnic close society where we mingle from day one, there wouldn't be such a problem. No class or creed, through thick and thin we will all be brothers and sisters, we will then understand that all of us humans bleed in red no matter from what coloured skin.

They Probably Hang around with people of their own nationality as they can relate to them and find them to be a safe group of people to be with rather than the new experience of people from a different nationality/culture

Because they are ignorant when they come here and speak their own language in public. I know the feeling but they want us to buy their foods, goods, etc. I think only the national language should be allowed in public when one goes to another country. Thank you for your question.

well in relation to the chinese people in particular, i no it pisses ppl off but im really proud of them, because even though theyre living in a different country all together, they still manage to preserve their culture, their langugae, their customs. i mean how many places DONT have china town? but i no that poeople of that country get annoyed coz they think they arent intergrating...wot can you do about it? i mean, honeeslty
