It depends if you mean the goal that required the most skill, or the goal that envokes the greatest emotion from the fans.

If you're talking about skill, I'd pick one of:
1) Ovechkin's on the back
2) Crosby picking up the puck on his stick and shovelling it top corner
3) I personally liked Spezza's inside out move from 05-06

Most exciting goals ever:
1) Paul Henderson Game Winner Summit Series over Tretiak
2) Bobby Orr Flying through the air with his hands up in celebration
3) Pavel Bure's Double Overtime Breakaway goal on Mike Vernon (game 7 vs. Flames)

Bobby Orr's goal to win the Stanley Cup is the best ever (some bias involved seeing how I'm a Bruins fan).

Ovechkin's goal was unbelievable. People are going to be expecting a goal like that from him every year now...haha.

All I remember is that it was done by Denis Savard of the Blackhawks, probably in the early 90's. The Hawks were on the road, maybe even the playoffs, and I think they were playing the Canadiens, but I'm not sure. He had a breakaway but a defender was about one stride behind him. When the defender tied him up, Savard planted his lead skate, did a 360, and scored. It was the most spectacular goal I have ever seen.

Don't watch that much hockey, but Ovechkin's goal was probably the top play of the year in sports.

There is many definitions to best goal. It can be how you shoot it or like in over time and it is game 7 of the stanley cup finals and you score a goal and win the game. That is a best goal. I dont really have a favorite.

No one's heard of this goal but there was one goal in the 95-96 season by a guy named Valeri Kamesky that was absolutly unbelievable. Here's a link to the goal (it's number 1)http://www.weakgame.com/media_4276_Amazing_Goals.html

Double Overtime. 1994. Eastern Conference Finals, game 7. Stephane Matteau holds the puck behind the net, wraps around, banks it off Slava Fetisov's skate and into the back of the net through Brodeur's 5-hole
