They are starting soon. I just got a notice from their website. Go to americanidol.com and you'll get the info you are seeking. It will tell you what cities and when the try outs are. I believe they start in August.

No, I haven't tried out for AI but I hear its a lot of people and it takes a whole day or two. I think tryouts are held in the major cities like LA, ATL, Chicago, etc... and u get a number and wait until they call u. Some people have won pre-contest like AI from little cities to go represent in the big city. That's all I know about it. The question is... Can u sing or just want to get a TV? If u can sing, I hope to see u on there!!!
