I'm serious, and I have not made my decision, but who's more intelligent in general blacks or whites....

i'm black and I hear this all the time from my classmates (I'm going to be a senior in high school) Out of 19 seniors at my high school last year there were 7 whites and 10 blacks, and all 7 whites are going to college but the 10 blacks are not (0 of them).

The answer is none of the above. It depends on the environment. A psychological study demonstrated that it is more the thought of being seen as less intelligent that affects people, researchers told 2 groups of black students different things. They told one group that overall, black students did bad in testings, and the other group that overall, blacks did very well. The thing is that the black students who were told that they would do above average actually DID very well in their test. The group who got the negative remark did bad. When a student is being told by the media and society that their group is less intelligent and do worse, they fall into a self fulfilling prophesy because students loose motivation.
Therefore, it is the environment, self fulfilling prophecy and the school, (ie giving equal opportunity and time) that affects who does well and who doesn't. Whites and Blacks have the capability to do the same above average work if given the proper environment in learning.

I believe you are seeing a period of non support in the black community. The decade of the sixties, seventies and eighties set aside seed money for education for blacks, it set aside jobs, opportunities of all sorts, especially in government. It appears that the hand outs are slowing down because the economy cannot afford it, plus a lot of these hand outs were deemed reverse discrimination.

Now, the black community hasn't learned to react to this problem of having to find seed money for education. It doesn't have the capacity to be resourceful because it never needed to be. For the last thirty or forty years, big brother has been there to take care of the big problems and now he isn't there.

Those ten kids must realize that money and loans are available to them, if they look for it. You all have counselors to guide you through this, that is if you really want to improve your lot. If not, Walmart needs help, and so does White Hen and Mickey D.

I think in another schools 10 blacks go to college and 0 whites going to nothing..... All this thing about the environment you are living on.. Maybe all black student in your school living in poor or in low level education environment....bla bla bla

It has nothing to do with intelligence. It has to do with ambition and perseverance with getting an education. I taught in the inner city for seven long years before I just couldn't take it anymore. There were more good teachers than bad, but the system is set up to pretend that everybody's learning. No one seemed to care whether or not the students got what they needed to succeed and that included discipline. DO NOT THINK THAT YOU ARE STUPID!!! YOU ARE NOT!! None of the kids I taught down there were stupid. They need to get what they need to succeed and they need to be taught and believe that anything good and worthwhile takes a lot of hard work.

I don't know if that means one race is more intelligent than the other. It could just mean different opportunities presented themselves. It is true that black people do not go to college as much as white people. But, who knows the real reason behind that.

Ever heard of Thurgood Marshall , Clarence Thomas ,Johnny Cochran, and Colin Powell? These Black Men went to college became lawyers , Supreme Court Justices and Secretary of State. As for women how about Condi Rice ?

well there honsetly both the same its jsut the negroes are not as wealth ( for the msot part) and cannot get a educcation , and or stuck in poor citys). It is not there fault they have been forced into poverty from our wrongs, but no if a baby white, and a baby negroe where to have the same education, and stay focused on school it would be a tough call, but this does all depend on many factors.

intelligence is not race oriented and is not related to how well educated you are. it is a measure of ones ability to learn. and any ignorant racist that thinks otherwise are just that. an ignorant racist.
as for college. it is a shame that many people do not believe that they deserve the opportunity to attend. if you cannot afford or don't get accepted into a university attend a community college taking all of your general education courses until you can get accepted. you should make sure that all your credits are transferable when you do get into a university.scholarships, loans and grants are available. many more for minorities and lower income families. do not cheat yourself by listening to bigots! live up to your full potential.

So, what? it just means that they are wanting to succeed in life, thus they'll purse a college education. Although, a lot of whites hold chief positions in America, the govt.; armed forces, a lot more whites attend Service Academies-I know some are smart, but most succeed in leadership positions b/c they work hard (but it doesn't apply to all).

Simple answer. Look at Africa (mostly black) with a much longer history than anywhere else in the world. Look at Europe (mostly white) with much less history. Where would you rather live?
Me, I would take Europe. Much better opportunities, longer life expectancy and I wouldn't have to worry about somebody hacking me into pieces with a machete.
