I would go jogging during the day, I wouldn't let her be alone even a minute at night. But I would think a ten to fifteen minute jog just around the neighborhood would be fine. Tell her to lock all the doors and just let the answering machine get the phone.

This depends on a couple of key things. First of all it depends on the responsibility of your daughter. If she is a good student, a good help around the house and just an all around decent kid, you should be okay. Second it depends on how long your jog is. If your planning on running for an hour or less, yes it is perfectly fine. But if ou are planning on running around your local park or hiking trails for long periods of time. I wouldn't recommend this. Some of the things that would help ease your worry while you are jogging are maybe giving er something to do while you are gone. Maybe set her up with a movie or have her cean her room or draw or something of that nature. But there is also the optin of possibly taking her with you on your jogs. It would help her as well as you tremendously if she is looking at trying out wo any sports with the approaching school year.

It really depends on how mature your child is. if she can sit alone and not cause any destruction for a half an hour, then yes, if not, that's a no. I myself was babysitting for more than eight hours at a time at that age, but it really depends on the child. If you feel uncomfortable with it find out what the laws are for your area. Then set guidelines like don't use the stove or keep the doors locked while you are gone. there should not be a problem with it though.

Depends on the 10 yr old. Does she know not to answer the door or tell anyone onthe phone you are not home? Will she not try to be the next Betty Crocker and try to cook something and start a fire in the house?

Well is the ten year old mature to cause no trouble in the house? If she/he will cause trouble in the house then i say that you should take her/him with you. If you think he/she is responsible to be left alone in the house to answer the phone and answer the door then yes.

The only reason to be safe is in the unlikely emergancy of them lighting the house on fire or leaveing the house without your permission.

Good Luck and do what you think is good for your child.

I think it is fine to leave her for a few minutes. With this sort of thing you have to start out small and work your way up. You can leave her for a few minutes at first and then if she is responisible you can start leaving her longer. Just make sure you have a plan. What to do in case of fires etc. Also make sure there are friends or family phone numbers she can call in case she can't get a a hold of you.

I think that having her go with you is a good idea just for exercise's sake, but I know that everyone needs private time. If you want to do your exercising by yourself, I don't think that leaving her alone just for the duration of your jog near your house should be a problem at all.

it depends if this child is comfortable with this idea. I used to do it when the kids were asleep and arrive home before they even woke up. the 10 yr. old new it and felt a "responsibility" as he knew how important it was to me and that he was helping out. He was NOT uncomfortable with it.

I don't think you should.
But it really depends on how responsible the kid is.
And if you can trust 'em to stay alone for awhile without getting into trouble.
Or you can take the child with you.
Help them get a healthy start.
