1. You are running an 8 year old Virus Magnet!
2. Only in Microsoft do you have to 'de-frag' and virus scan!
Wouldn't you rather just be playing on that computer right now, instead of trying to learn 'programming'???
Try out http://pclinuxos.com that runs in the CDROM, and, if you like it, you hit the 'Install' icon! Therewill be couple questions, like
what language you want, what is your time zone, etc.

Problems might arise from spyware or adware, use Hikjack This to fix settings in Internet Explorer, use an anti-spyware program such as Spybot search and destroy along with Adaware SE edition to scan and remove the problems and also switch to another browser like Firefox or Opera for more security when browsing. Another good program is CCleaner which can be found on download.com and used to clean crude files, and temporary files from your computer.

Download Ad Aware 1.6 program from Lavasoftusa.com. Is a spyware that inspects your computer and eliminates those messy files. Is free for personal use. Here is the download site from Cnet.com:

Other good program is CCleaner. It helps to clean history, cookies an temporary internet files. I've using these two programs for two years and they are very good (especially they're free).

Simple form to delete internet files is using the internet options in windows control panel. Delete cookies, history and temp internet files.

Click on tools in the upper left hand corner. Click internet options. A screen will come up that allows you to delete cookies, delete temporary internet files, and to clear history. A person should delete all these once in a while anyway to clear space on your computer.

To clean temp files, go to start, programs, accessories, system tools and click on disc clean up,. You should run a spy ware scan and make sure there are no problems there.

One that I know of is necessary for windows to run the net with. Go to Internet explorer, and right click it. That will get you properties. Go down in properties, and change save pages for # days to zero. Then clear your history, including offline pages. This should help some.

When Norton ran the scan it should have given you the path to the files.

Sounds like spyware. If the free software Ad-Aware or spybot search and destroy won't do it. I suggest purchasing Spy Sweeper from Webroot.com. $19.95. This will solve the probem or their free tech support will.

Run your spyware and antivirus programs with your system restore function off (you may turn it on again later) and maybe even in safe mode. If that doesn't work, reformat your HD.
