I don't think of it as an obsession but more as a wonderful time of life. Things were simpler. Choices were fewer. Parents were stronger. Kids were more disciplined.
AND THE MUSIC WAS THE BEST!
Yes, I'm talking about the 50's and 60's. Dance Party with Dick Clark every weekday.
Pat Boone. Elvis. Little Richard. Bobby Darin. The Righteous Brothers, The Temptations, The Supremes. There is no end to the talent - and it's all still good today. The Oldies Shows.
And the Poodle Skirts are still around too. lol

I was born in the 50's, but I don't remember a lot of it accept my dad beat me with a razor strap. I remember being in California the beach in El Segundo, Hawthorne California. 1959 I started recognizing my surroundings better. I love the 50's . Black and white TV. Superman, the Lone Ranger, Lassie, My friend Flicka, Red Skelton, Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Jackie Gleason, Lucille Ball, Somehow I landed back in Texas. Horses and cows. My mother remembers when Elvis came to Texas. She was working at Woolsworth in Abilene , Texas and him and his band came in and she waited on him and she didn't realize it. When she made his toast she burnt it a little and she apologized for it. He said it was alright. Sound like a familiar phrase? Yes, I'm obsessed with the 50's. I wished they'd come back around.

I live in the present, but I have a friend who is obsessed with the 1920's. He collects and repairs items from that era. He even has a 1925 phone that he uses, and a 20's toaster. Going to his home is like going to a musuem. He loves the old "record players" everything from wax cylinder recorders to Edison Disk Players. He's 58, but has been collecting this stuff since he as in his teens.

I read an article from the 50's once that said women should be kept in their place and always do what the man says. It also said that she should never get fat, never say anything to displease or upset her husband and if she gets hit by him she deserved it. CRAZY!
In response to your question, no. I like different aspects of different decades, but it's too wide of a range to say that I'm obsessed with a particular one.

I'm 23, but I love the 80's! The music during that time was soo much better. Especially the love songs. It wasn't all about getting a girl in bed etc etc.

I absolutely love the 18th and 19th century. That is when the best literature (in my opinion) came out. the fashion was absolutely beautiful, and everything was so elegant. of course there were some awful diseases (the Black Plug) but everything else magnificent!!!
God Bless!!!!
