there was an investigation but the public was never updated on the results of said incident it was plastered on the news as any shocking event is but then suddenly not a word and no inquiries i think?

Egypt Air 990, 31st Oct 1999, JFK to Cairo, crashed near Nantucket. There was of course an inquiry into it. The NTSB found that the pilot decided to commit suicide taking 216 others with him.

The co-pilot ran amok and took the plane down with all passengers.
Some think this was the first terrorist attack with a plane.
