When I was the computer lab manager, I use to catch students doing just that. It is not hard, but I will not reveal the methods.
Punishment at our college consisted of suspension from the lab.
The students were using college computers. Students in their dorms did not bother others and could look at what they wanted.

Answer to this question is yes and do you need to worry about it, would be NO. First off when your computer logs onto the network, eventhough you are one of many, you generate a special IP address and comp signature for your computer that identifies you. Now it is possible to back track this ip address and locate your cache file, where all your internet tracks are located, including thumbnails, links and images from the sites you visit, with this information you can find where you have been. Limitations: only a handfull of actual admins can do this, Primarily "hard" coders, and I am sure that the university would not have this calibre of programmer on staff. And they are not that concerned, otherwise they server would be locked from viewing any explicit materials. As far as the punishment, you would need to check with your school handbook, but I don't think you have any reason to worry!

Yes if you are using a college computer, and the punishment will depend on the rules of the college.

You can always be tracked on the internet...especially if you are using the college computer system or access lines to get your porn. They know who you are right away. The punishment depends on each school policy...can range from nothing, to losing internet privileges, to expulsion.

They might be able to track you, but if it's legal and you're of legal age to view it they can't do anything about it. Unless of course the contract you signed with your school said no adult material, in which case you might want to reconsider viewing it.

Odds are, yes, they can find out what you're viewing, since you're going through the university network to view it.
Whether or not there's any punishment for looking at porn depends entirely on what college you go to. You'll have to look up the rules for internet use for your specific school.

I assume you mean on your college computer. Sure they can. The stuff's stored on their server. They might have a keystroke logger, too. But if it's "legal adult material", why sweat it?

There are too many people in colleges; you probably will not be caught.
It depends on the regulations in your college.
But if they want to prevent "adult" material, they probably have filters. If you can see it and it's not blocked, you might not get "caught."

Yes, every computer has a dns, which is a ip (interne protocol) and is saved on the server. College or ISP. It can be traced.
