One doesn't have to be stupid and uneducated to be a racist. Many intelligent, educated people are racists.
I think, rather, it has to do with ignorance, and the way one is raised.
Also, I think there are many kinds of prejudice. Such as being prejudiced against the less intelligent and uneducated.
Everyone has at least one quality in them. I think it is up to each of us to find that the quality or qualities in each person, and focus on it/them, and sincerely compliment (not flatter) the person on it/them. It has the effect of causing more good qualities to pop up in that person. We all just want/need to be loved. People who are unable to love are usually those who have not experienced it. Seek out the unloveable, and love them. It has a powerful, changing effect, on the person, and on ourselves.
We're all ready to take in a homeless animal and give it love; but, how many of us are willing to love everyone who crosses our path. Doesn't cost a thing. The result might be priceless. We're all capable of change. We must all just try to be the living example of the words that come from our mouthws, or keep our mouths shut. Instead of judging others, we should concentrate on keeping our own backyards clean.
Racists usually have no self-esteem, and the only way they think they can get some, is by stepping on someone else--putting someone else down. They need love more than any of us.

I haven't watched this category but I agree with you based on real world experience.
A look at the definition of the word racist would give you some insight. I think the word is misused a great deal in the media world and on a personal level.
The word racist means one who thinks his race is superior to others. Like you said it's being used as a "blanket".
A good observation.
P.S. my spelling sucks too

no. there are many intelligent racists of all races. i can't stand racism. the past has carried much hatred and revenge into the present. there are an overwhelming amouint of americans today who are totally against racism. it is just wrong. it is not what america is about. this is the land of opportunity for ALL. i don't believe in the death penalty, but if i did, i would rather put to death a racist than anyone. racism breeds devilish deeds of all kinds. it is so sad a persons skin color makes a difference. i tell my black friends all the time(and we laugh), isn't it funny how white people are tanning and trying to get thier skin darker. i'm white, and yeah, sometimes i wanna be dark.

For some, that is the case.
For most, however, the truth is far less sinister. Racism is more like religion than like a concious hatred - it's an irrational belief that they've been conditioned since birth to believe.

No, you're not alone.
I wanna grab 'em, shake 'em and knock their heads into a wall.
I'd never really do that....but that's how much it 'burns' me.
My dad was born and raised in Tennessee and he was very much a racist. I used to bring my black friends home from school just to piss him off.
My mom worked in a beauty shop and would always bring the gay men home for dinner after work, just to piss him off.
Believe it or not, as my dad got older he became very good friends with two black families and a lesbian couple from the neighborhood. They were very much a part of his life after my mom died.
He became educated....and he softened.

There is only one type of blanket that is supreme over all the others and it is the fleece! No other blanket is worthy to be called a blanket! Agree with me or die!

I agree completely! Unfortunately a lot of times it is passed down from generation to generation and the cycle never ends.

I'm not sure what you mean by a 'blanket', but the uneducated tend to be close-minded; the close-minded tend to be more racist; therefore...

you are probably right. Any prejudice is a hinderence to learning and experiencing. If I am predudice against any group I rob myself of any lesson learned from said group.
