Obviously "g" didn't even read your link. Sad.

In any case, after reading all the research summaries, I can't understand why every liberal democrat DOESN'T support keeping the minimum wage as is.

At least conservatives understand it.

What I wonder is why certain people think that minimum wage is anything more than an initiation into the working world. No, it's not enough to "live on". If you're a teenager who's trying to make enough money to buy the latest Korn CD, or take your girlfriend out on a date, then that money is pretty good. If you are an adult trying to make a living and feed a family, then you need to either have an education or a skill. Get that through your heads people. There is no excuse for not being successful in America regardless of how many you want give.

I wonder why we have a minimum wage in the first place. If it yields $200 per week, and a person needs $400 per week, he/she needs to get a second job. OR go back to school, and learn a skill that will yield $400 per week (or more) in the job market. Hey!! no one said it would be easy. This way, a lot more of our people will have a lot more smarts and skills. Fewer jobs would be exported to India, etc.

And hard work never hurt anyone. It builds character. So stop whining. You dealt that hand to yourself. I sure as hell didn't deal it to you. Those two-bit politicians are out trolling for votes by throwing people a bone in the form of a minimum wage. The people can do better than that ---and deserve better than that------but they need to get up off their *** and work for it.

Just glance at the study mentioned below the question. It's all verified. So don't jump to conclusions.

What I wonder most about minimum wage is how someone who works 40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year, earning minimum wage is supposed to survive in our economy, given that they gross just over 10 grand a year. Fortunately I live in a state (Florida) where the citizens voted for a constitutional amendment raising the minimum wage to a dollar higher than the federal minimum. Gee - that's about another two grand a year.

This is again one of the social programs of the New Deal the Republicans have opposed since day one. They will vote to give tax breaks to the wealthy of the country and pay raises for themselves but oppose raise in minimum wage.

Yes I wonder about it alot. How the hell do they expect people to live off of minimum wage? Its too low. If they were to raise the wage it would help alot of people. There would be less help needed for welfare and other state programs and less poverty because then people would not have to choose between rent or food for the children.

It doesn't really matter what the minimum wage is. It's called supply and demand. Mcdonald's will still have to hire the same amount of people to meet the demand of the customers.
It needs to raised..

so... conservatives want no minimum wage and no welfare so we can have shanty towns again?

workers making $2 an hour living in a city of cardboard boxes, while the CEOs make a few extra million on the salaries they save?

Make it $100.00 dollars an hour. No $200.00 an hour. Of course cute little cell phone and that tasty burger are going to cost 100 times more, but I'm sure you won't mind paying for it.
The whole argument is as simple as that.

Yeah. And the further south you go the more they take artistic license with it.
