well if your silver is getting tarnished you can use: cleaner, toothpaste, baking soda all day and it will only make the surface clean but the tarnish will still be there if you want the tarnish to go away may i suggest tarn-ex (tarnx)just a few seconds to a min in that solution will take tarnish away (be sure to use qtips or something besides your hands it smells like sulfur) you will have to rinse the jewelery in water afterwords but all the tarnish will be gone good luck hope this helps

I know this may sound crazy, but a few months ago i was visiting my inlaws and was telling my mother-in-law how my ring always got so dirty...she took my ring and said she would clean it...when she gave it back, it looked brand new...it was so shiny..come to find out she used ammonia to clean it...she said to use 1 part ammonia to two parts water and soak the item in the mixture for a little bit then scrub it with some kind of brush and rinse with warm water..It works..
Hope this helps!

I always use a little toothpaste on a slightly damp rag to clean my sterling silver.

Meg's advice... a few minutes ago... is actually right on the mark. I used to work at a jewelry store and I can tell you for sure that the cleaning product they sell is amonia, water and pink coloring... nothing more... nothing less.

They (department stores) sell a product called Blitz. I have diamonds and gold jewerly. It works madd good in my opinion. Not that expensive for the amopunt you get. You can clean a whole pawn shop if you wanted.
