Well you make friends, get in better shape, have fun, can be considered for scholarships if you are in highschool (scholar athelete award or just by being plain good enough for colleges to give you one), when the year is over you can look back at all the progress you have made and feel proud of yourself/your team, etc.

For me participating in sports with my son has been one of the best experiences in my life. Until recently, me and my son raced dirt bikes. The people you meet, the friends you make and bond each individual makes with another is as great as the air you breath. And the doctors are great...Ha Ha, not to mention the bond a family makes, a family that plays together stays together!
