I'm looking to buy a 1997-1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder. I want to know if anyone has one and what the pros and cons are for you? Which year out of those is the best? Any and all information will be appreciated. Thank you.

First and second generation eclipses are really fun cars especially in AWD, turbo, or a combination of both. However, these cars are plagued by a lot of reliablity issues ranging from electrical problems to serious mechanical issues like walking crankshafts. What should be noted is the popularity of this vehicle with the tuner community. The turbo models in particular as well as the non turbo models are popular with tuners. Regardless of the year, if you buy one make sure it is a first owner, preferably an adult owner who has maintained meticulous repair records, otherwise you might be owning my old eclipse which that I returned to stock and looked normal, but at one time was running 450 horsepower and ran at the track every weekend.
