A suit, dress shirt, and a tie would be appropriate....that's business professional attire. Don't forget the dress shoes too.
If you don't want to go to the department store, you can always try a discount chain like Marshalls or TJ Max. There are also some discount suit companies that have nice stuff too.
Make sure the suit is already fitted since he needs it tomorrow. There might not be enough time to get the suit altered.
Good luck!

suit and tie
formal button up shirt
business slacks, or nice, nice pants
a formal jacket the same color as the pants
a nice tie
shiny black shoes (dont do velcro...only laces.)
or if he cant find any in black he likes, at least make sure they're shiny, and they are not the athletic type. sandles, flip flops, sneakers, are all unacceptable.
a good example of a formal shoe are penny loafers. the brown leather that isnt always shiny is one type of an acceptable shoe and is an exception to the "shiny black shoe" recomendation.
if he's going into the legal business...suspenders classify as busines professional.
and as long as the socks show, the socks dont really matter, but most men wear the same color socks as their suit.
hats are not recomended, unless the tempatures outside are cold.
i recomend sears, or JC penny. you will find everything you need.

You should buy a dark suit, tie, and a clean white dress shirt w/ black dress shoes which is professional looking. Best wishes on that interview ;)

RE:
What is "business professional" attire?
My son has his first job interview tomorrow, and this is what the person who scheduled it specified. He only has jeans and t's! Help--what exactly should we go buy at the dept store?

Suit and tie or jacket, slacks and tie. If you're a stand up comic? A cyclone fence between you and the immediate audience if you're not very good.
