The Democrats are a party that openly identifies with America’s imperial goals and the interests of big capital. Yet we continue to face political forces on the left who insist that we must unite with liberal Democrats and act carefully so as not to jeopardize that alliance--in order to “defeat the right wing.”
This is, however, as it has always been, an embrace that, instead of advancing the struggle, smothers it.

This boggles minds, but I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat. I think both are horrid, one a bit less than the other, fine. If we want our needs and wants to be addressed we need to step outside of the Repuglicrat framework.

Zelda - Russia is not Communist. It is called Communist, just as Western Democracies are called democracy, when in fact it is a plutocracy. My point is that compared to the begining of the Russian Revolution, where the people did have the power, one of the most progressive times on Earth, that is a not stink, it is cooperation and true liberty. If you keep sucking up to the Liberal Democrats we will never get justice whatsoever, they are simply the other side of the business party and do not stand for the people of America whatsoever. They ignore you.
We people need to address the challenges in society for ourselves. We need community not isolation. Showing up once every 4 years and jerking a lever for a lawyer-master to run your life is no longer acceptable. It is a suicidal path, we ned to get off it, turn of the TV and get real again.
That is the real Stink in society, that people just wallow in helplessness.

This might be a bit off topic but perhaps you could read an essay called "The Tragedy of the Commons". It is readily available on the web. It is quite good at identifying the dillemas that face us and the problems of trust and self interest. I do not say that it is happy reading but it is thought provoking and highly regarded.
As for your issue here, I believe that by the time anyone reaches that level of government there is little substance left, only perception and popularity.
The people in history who have risen above the white noise and become icons are those that prove that the rule of self interest exists by contrasting to it. If you look at the history of America, you will find the real heroes are always the ones that are the exception to the rule.

I don't have an answer, but a question for you. Why is it that people always use "liberal" and "Democrat" interchangeably, just like people use "conservative" and "Republican" as if they are the same?
These are two different political axes that intersect to create a number of different fields.
And if the Democrats, as you claim, "identify with America's imperial goals" and "the interests of big capital," then I really don't understand the Republicans' current political and economic agenda. On what do you base your claims here?
Without knowing that, I really cannot understand, much less agree or disagree, with your closing remarks.
EDIT
As for the previous remark of "never trusting anything with the word 'liberal' attached to it" - what is your personal definition of the term "liberal" and why do you think that so many people have villified the word? So that people simply ignore and, like you, don't trust anything labeled "liberal."

You mean the rich multi-millionaires that send their kids to private schools while at the same time ferociously preventing the working stiff from have school choice because they are controled by the NTA? Would these be the multi-millionaires like Rob Reiner who instead of writing some million dollar checks to the California treasury too fund his socialist agenda is working on a proposition to mandate tax-payer based child-care, even for families that don't want or need it?
That type of liberal elite?
Like Ted Kennedy, who is so "green" and pro-environment that he doesn't mind if they put a wind farm in your backyard, but screw you if you think you are going to put something 50 miles off cape cod.
They are digusting vermin.

I'm an unapologetic liberal myself, but I can smell the stink of Communist rhetoric here. You are not a theoretician. Most people who joined the Communist Party in Soviet Russia did that so they could advance their careers. They weren't foolish enough to believe that Communism actually works.
Communism = slavery right now for people in rural Russia who are forced to sell their milk to the local coop for a price less than water. I know this because my brother in law still lives and works there.
Go ahead and delete this question if you don't like my answer, like the last fool did.

Liberals are people whose goal is to have an all-intrusive federal government that will control practically every aspect of our daily lives. They want to create an even larger bureaucracy than we now have. It takes big bucks to run a "government" like that one. Those big bucks will come from the people who pay taxes, fees, etc. Most of the liberal elite have more money than they will ever need. So their goal is to be at the top level of the bureaucracy that they have created. To get there, they'll talk a good line, promising us anything and everything that will get themselves elected. It's an ego trip for them.Think of their job titles, the prestige, the POWER that they'll have. It'll even look good on their tombstone.

the 'liberal elite' is a fiction, created by the right in order to appeal to 'regular folks'-those useful to the right during elections and as cannon fodder...if you have not been under a large rock during the past 6 years, you would have noticed the 'imperial right' as evidenced by an administration that has decided that 'the decider' is ruler of all, a congress too timid to speak up for anyone but their own lobbyist masters, a judiciary that is all completely ignored, and a 'free press' that has kowtowed and boot licked since inauguration day 2001...

No more than we should trust the conservative elite. Both ideologies are filled with people who have gotten everything they wanted given to them, from the Kennedys to the Rockefellers to the Bushes. I would not trust my money to anyone who's never had to work hard to get what they want. Spoiled rich kids, the whole bunch of 'em...
I love to watch Democrats at $500 a plate fund-raisers talking about their connection to the "little people". I love to listen to millionaire conservatives talk about "compassionate conservatism", while cutting social services and troops pay behind our backs. Bunch of hypocrites...

I see what you're saying... but I don't see any changes that will occur soon... so, what are you options...
vote for a third party candidate that won't get any where... or vote for the lesser of two evils...
the only way it will change is through a viable third party option that America can get behind...

'liberal elite' is far from fiction. liberal media, just a faction of the elite, like cBS, nBS and aBS "news" are a part of the do or say anything for $ or power crowd. the so-called right-wing conspiracy BS went out long ago.
