because it seems like alot of folks on here dont, or are people just too damn cheap? i am sooooo sick of people posting questions like "omg my dog won't stop throwing up! what should i do?" you effing idiot, take it to the vet!!! and then they say "oh but i can't afford that!" well ya know what??.....you shouldn't even be a pet owner then!!! people who buy/rescue/or whatever need to realize that just like humans, pets get sick too and if you can not afford vet care then you should NOT be a pet owner!!!!

Excellent point.

Ideally, a vet who has experience with whatever animal a person is getting should be found even before the pet is brought home. Professional medical care is part of the responsibility of keeping an animal.

(Which isn't to say that basic things like yearly vaccinations are necessarily the same as very expensive treatments for something serious like cancer. I don't blame the owners who can't afford to put out $5,000 for a procedure that may or may not work.)

Pet ownership is definitely more then just the supplies costs. I have vets lined up for all my pets (Including my rats and hamster!). Finding a very knowledgable exotic vet can be difficult, but from looking on the internet I have found one recommended by numerous people.

If you are not prepared to spend the money on vet costs for emergencies/shots/surgery/etc. you really should think twice about owning a pet. Pet ownership is not for just the enjoyment of the person, putting an animal through pain and suffering because you can't afford treatment is selfish.

Please take your pets to the vet and have money saved up for emergencies. Once my dog stepped on glass and had to get his foot operated on and stitched back up. He had to wear a cast for a few weeks. That was an emergency that left unattended to could have been serious or even fatal.

I do!! I do!! and I know exactly what you are talking about it drives me crazy too because I am a single gal with part time minimum wage job and I can afford to provide vet care for all 4 of my cats and both of my dogs. Also hate how they get offended when you say go to the vet and say its too expensive...Like money can ever compare to the well being of another living being!! Gimme a break!! Just stop buying useless things like makeup, or designer clothes or cancel you cable/satellite for a while to have extra money.You can live without makeup or TV or the INTERNET (which you are wasting money on to ask stupid questions) but your pet cant live without medical treatment!!

PS TKSSTORM IF THEY CAN AFFORD THE INTERNET THEY CAN AFFORD TO PAY A VET BY GIVING UP THE INTERNET.

Funny how people can afford stupid stuff for thier own pleasure or vanity but not for a suffering animal...

I have a vet. then how else is my baby going to get her meds and shots? I couldn't imagine if she was never fixed or dewormed. yuck.
But some cant afford vets and its better that the animal is fed and loved than euthanized.
