I suggest the regular hotels. You may want to try some different foods in different restaurants. If you are on a tour or other activity you don't want to have to rush or go back to your hotel just to eat. Also, you may not want to eat what your hotel is serving each day. I suggest a hotel that offers breakfast, but not all meals and drinks. Cancun has so much to offer that you will not want to just stay in your hotel eating and drinking.

There are plusses and minuses to an "all-inclusive" and regular Hotels. A lot depends on what is important to you(I am Owner of a Travel Agency):

All-inclusives
Plusses- everything is included/price is usually lower/locations are usually good
Minuses- all-inclusives may have lots of kid traffic/the food is just ok/lack of privacy(depending on Resort in question)

Hotel
Plusses- Prices depending on when you go/amenities are better(depending on Hotel in question)/
Minuses- Size of room/Location(sometimes)/Prices

But 1 thing is certain--July 28th is around the corner so availability is limited no matter if it is a Hotel or Resort. That's not to say that nothing's available; there probably is. Just the probability factor. You also didn't mention what your Travel Budget is like, which will make a difference. If you could kindly either call, email me at: indysteve1563@yahoo.com, or reach me through Yahoo Messenger with your specifics, then we can see what's doable for you for July 28th, and also help you make an informed decision.

All Inclusive, for sure.

Who wants to...
carry money on the beach?
be worried about spending a couple of bucks on a beer when it's stinking hot?
think about where to go for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks for a whole week (or two)?

If you want to go off the resort for dinner a once or twice you still have that option but at least you can relax and not sweat details for every single meal.

One tip though - when you go to an all-inclusive make sure that the whole resort is all-inclusive. If some people are paying and some are on the all-inclusive plan the waiters and bartenders will always serve those paying first. (Because they will be tipping more)

DEFINITLY All Inclusive!!! My husband can eat all day long and it was great for that reason, but also just nice to be able to go to a restaurant there and order whatever and not worry about the bill!! The drinks are definitly a nice perk too!! We stayed at Omni Cancun (Highly recommend it) and they also give you coupons when you arrive to other places...we got a free dinner at a really nice restaurant in Cancun....so that way you can experience food outside of your hotel and yet enjoy the luxury of all inclusive. Even at the pool you don't pay a penny, free app's and drinks - it's great!!!

I purely were given back from my honeymoon at desires Tulum , Mexico (about 80 miles outdoors downtown Cancun) We did the all-inclusive element and it replaced right into a thanks to go. Riviera Maya/Playa del Carmen are a touch procedures outdoors of Cancun, in common words about 20-30min. It relies upon on what type of holiday you're searching for for. those places are definately in the route of the ruins and most of the day excursions...yet not as "happening" as Cancun itself. i'd definately evaluate an all-inclusive...and in case your searching for a extra kin type of holiday, staying a touch outdoors the large busy Cancun section should be a thanks to go.

We went to playa del carmen last year and went all inclusive. I'd say that is the best way to go. the only thing you have to pay for after that is any excursions you go on. you get all the food and drink, key word drink, your heart desires, and some of the hotels you can get free stuff at their sister hotels. Look at the Ibeostar Quetzel in Playa del Carmen

depends on how much you drink. There are plenty of americanized places to eat and the food / water is safe. All inclusive usually is only money saving if you plan on drinking alot.

Hola Henry. If you are going to drink alot, then yes, go AI. However, there are alot of good restaurants in Cancun. And, the bus system is very convenient to get from one place to another. Tim
