My ex husband bought me a set of pans.

My second ex husband bought me a flashlight so I could get up to feed the baby without putting the light on and waking him.

I live alone now, and am very happy to do so.

I dated a girl for two years and had a huge crush on her. I was working while going to college and didnt have a very good job. Since me and my girlfriend shared the same birthday, we had a party for ourselves and invited all of our friends.
I went out and spend all I could afford on a beautiful tri-color-gold necklace for her. I also bought her a nice card and some flowers. I was broke for a while and had to borrow money from my parents for gas, food, books, etc; but, I felt it was worth it.
At the party we exchanged gifts. She opened her present first and loved it. She gave me a big kiss, and everyone "oohed" and "ahhed" about the necklace.
Then, she handed me my present. It was a box about two inches deep, five inches long, and about four inches wide. She wrapped it in green paper that was the color of peas, and the thing I was holding was heavy. I ripped off the paper and opened the box. I couldn't believe what I was looking at. Immediately, I got a sick feeling in my stomach. I sacrificed so much to buy what I thought was a really, really, nice gift for a girl I cared so much about, and there I was holding in my hands....a brass crab.
She gave me a used (from a thrift store) brass, crab shaped, ashtray. She saw it and feel in love with it, she said. And, she just had to get it for me because we both had the same birthday in July, and our sign is Cancer, and the astrological sign for Cancer is, you guessed it, the crab.
It took everything I had to act like I loved the gift. No one else in the room, including my tactless friends even pretended it was nice. She felt awkward and I spent the rest of the evening trying to convince her it was the best thing I ever got from anybody. Needless to say, we're not togther anymore. The crab didn't break us up, but I realized she didn't care nearly as much about me as I did about her. Don't ask me what I did with the crab. For a while, I had it on the dashboard of my car, but now it's gone for good.
However, we both still have our birthday coming up next week. I often wonder where she is, if she got married, has kids, or if she still thinks I have her crab.

I remember one time when I was 8, I had a party for my birthday. I used to love furbys, you know, those little owl things? Anyway, during the party, I talked about how I hated Shelbys, a crab robot thing created by the same company as furbys, and all my friends got me furbys. The last present I got was a shelby. I was pist. I did pretent that I liked so I wouldn't upset the friend who got it for me.

She knew I beloved Christmas pudding and she or he had one left over from the previous Christmas. I ate it besides!!
