Of course, sound isn't made by human ears, it just picks up sound waves and the brain reads it at sound. Now if a tree falls and nobody is around to hear it, it doesn't mean sound waves aren't still created, it just means nobody's ears is there to pick it up.

the actual question you should ask is does it make a sound if you are there or are you imagining it? if you answer it does, then of course it makes a sound, just because your not there to hear it doesnt mean it doesnt happen, right?
if you answered it was your imagination, then it only makes a sound when you think it does, so this entire question is moot.

no it does not, when something falls it creates waves, not sound. those waves have to be interpreted by the proper instrument, ie...the ear. only when the waves have been cycled through the ear and relayed to the brain do they become sound or noise.
