A sequel is very unlikely, even according to Joss.
He has two big film projects under way - "Goners" and "Wonder Woman". Where will he find the time?
The box office for Serenity was, in the end, disappointing - and whoever is going to come up with the money to make a sequel of a movie that flopped, that was itself based on a TV show that had flopped?
We, who like the Fireflyverse, are dreaming (delusionally) if we think it is coming back on screen (large or small).
Joss has said he will continue the 'verse via comic books. And there are supposedly a couple of novels that may get written.

Tough call on the movie. It could end up being something like Terminator where it gets a sequel even though it didn't do so hot in theaters. I think it did really well on DVD though, so that may push someone towards making a sequel. I'd see a sequel. Love Joss Whedon projects. : )

Doubtful to both. No US TV Company will pay for another series of Firefly and the film flopped at the cinemas.
I loved both the series and the film, it's a tragedy that it looks like they arent making any more of either.
You could write to Bill Gates and get him to finance another series of Firefly ;-)
